Hamas lauded the Iranian missile launch toward Israel on Tuesday, stating it avenged the recent deaths of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, and Abbas Nilforoushan, a senior commander in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
These three figures were killed in Israeli airstrikes in recent weeks, escalating tensions in the region and pushing it closer to a multi-front conflict.
Hamas described the Iranian response as a significant message to "the Zionist enemy and its fascist government," aimed at deterring them and curbing their actions, which Hamas claims have exceeded all limits in terms of crimes and violations of international law.
For context, Israel has been engaged in conflict with Hamas since the group's attacks on October 7 of last year. Meanwhile, Iran-backed Hezbollah has been involved in reciprocal attacks along Israel's northern border since that date, escalating confrontations in solidarity with Hamas.
